CAC Mission Statement

The Eastern Los Angeles Regional Center Consumer Advisory Committee (CAC) exists in order to advocate, advise, empower, lead, plan, inform, and educate so that consumers of Regional Centers may understand their rights under the Lanterman Act, achieve their goals, and learn information that impacts their personal freedom. The CAC believes that individuals with developmental disabilities have the right to:

• independence and self-determination;
• go anywhere they want to go like anyone else;
• have meaningful employment;
• have friends and relationships;
• live where they want;
• the freedom of choice;

The CAC believes that this would result in people who are developmentally disabled:

• becoming leaders;
• having more confidence and self-esteem;
• making contributions to others within the community
